HAZ MAT RESPONSE

Tuesday, July 26, 2011  Haz Mat 26, Engine 26-3 and Car 26B responded to an overturned dump truck on Amwell Road. On arrival it was determined that the fuel tank and hydraulic system on the dump truck were leaking. Units contained the spill and stood by until the truck was removed.

     



 

New Engine Room Floor

Sunday, July 24, 2011  Our new engine room floor has been finally completed and looks amazing. Members spent a good part of Sunday putting the lockers back on the walls, and getting part of our firehouse put back together.  Click the story to view additional pictures.


     



 

4TH ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE

Saturday, July 23, 2011  Ladder 26 responded into Franklin District 2 for the structure fire. L26 was initially called as a move up but when the fourth alarm was struck was called into the scene. Members went to work overhauling and opening up. Operations were very difficult with the temperatures in the upper 90's with high humidity.

   


 

R.I.C. Responds Into Middlesex Borough

Wednesday, July 20, 2011  At 6:15pm, Station 26 was requested to respond into Milddlesex Borough for the working structure fire on Lorraine Ave as the Rapid Intervention Company. Car 26 and Ladder 26 responded with-in minutes and requested Station 56 for additional manpower. District 1 Companies operated in Middlesex for about an hour in the 90+ degree before being cleared.


     



 

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE 7/19/11

Tuesday, July 19, 2011  Progress on our station remodel continues. The radio room has been enclosed, the members room is having the floor coverings installed, the new engine room floor is in progress and the 9-11 memorial is proceeding nicely.

Congratulations NYPD Recruit (and Station 26 Lieutenant) Billy Cullen

Friday, July 8, 2011  Special congratulations to Lieutenant Billy Cullen on his appointment to the NYPD this past Wednesday July 6.  Billy is one of 1,653 recruit police officers sworn in by Police Commissioner Kelly this week.  The new class will be starting the NYPD academy this coming week.  Good luck with the academy and best wishes for a long safe career from your brothers and sisters at Station 26!

STATION 26 9-11 MEMORIAL GARDEN

Friday, July 8, 2011  Construction of the Station 26 9-11 memorial garden has begun. The memorial will feature a seating wall, flag poles and the piece of World Trade Center steel we were recieved. Stay tuned for future progress pictures.

Haz Mat Response Exercise With Somerset County Haz Mat

Tuesday, June 21, 2011  Station 26 Haz Mat members trained this past Saturday with the Somerset County Haz Mat team at a simulated white powder incident response.  Members participated in incident recon, response, decon and medical monitoring, working with the Somerset County Haz Mat techs and Haz Mat team members at the fire academy.

Friday, June 17, 2011  At 9:45pm, the Elizabeth Ave and Millstone Valley Fire Companies responded to the intersection of Schoolhouse Rd. and Mettlers Ln for the motor vehicle fire. Car 26 & 26B arrived and found a well involved pickup truck under the utility lines. Engine 26-3 arrived first due and stretched the 200' 1 3/4" foam line for extinguishment. No damage was sustained to the utility lines and the Companies returned to service in less than 30mins. Units on scene: Car 26, Car 26B, Engine 26-3, Air 28, and an ambulance from the East Millstone First Aid Squad.
